# Wall-Mounted Standing Desks This Compact Standing Desk Boasts a Minimalist Design By Katherine Pendrill | Published 2016-01-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-standing-desk References: [treehugger](http://www.treehugger.com/eco-friendly-furniture/ids16-affordable-minimal-and-ergonomic-standing-desk.html) & [standingdesks](http://www.standingdesks.ca/) Matt Gereghty recently designed a compact standing desk that mounts directly to the wall. While there are a number of standing desks available to consumers, Gereghty's design is as stylish as it is ergonomic. Gereghty's compact standing desk made its debut at the Interior Design Show in Toronto this past weekend. His desk stands out from similar products due to its minimalist design that adheres directly to the wall. The desk itself consists of a lower desktop surface that holds the mouse and keyboard at arm-height. This lower desk is connected to a upper desktop surface via a wooden spine that is attached to the wall. The upper area can then be adjusted to hold a laptop or tablet screen at eye-level. The standing desk not only provides a discrete office workspace, but it also allows consumers to [alternate between sitting and standing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humanscale-float-micro) throughout the day. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Wall-mounted Desks:** Opportunity to disrupt the traditional desk market by creating versatile and space-saving wall-mounted desk designs. - **Standing Desks:** Innovation in the ergonomic furniture industry for standing desks that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. - **Minimalist Furniture:** Design innovation for minimalist furniture concepts that prioritize functionality and space-saving. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity to develop and manufacture innovative, minimalist furniture designs for modern living spaces. - **Interior Design:** Innovative designs that prioritize space-saving and minimalism, creating efficient and stylish home and office environments. - **Home Office Solutions:** Opportunity to develop space-saving, ergonomic furniture designs that cater to individuals working from home or in small office spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Chic Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desks.md) - [Sleek Minimal Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ab019-wall-desk.md) - [Freestanding Vertical Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workstick.md) - [Small Space Standing Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humanscale-float-mini.md) - [Vertical Home Office Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leandesk.md) - [Leaning Portable Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leandesk.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md) - [Adjustable Laptop Desk Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitstand-desk1.md) - [Slender Flatpack Standing Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-bean-standing-desk.md)
