The architecture firm is commissioned by a professional couple with two kids. The original dwelling is identified as a mews house, which is the British term for a structure that is part of a row or street of unique houses of character. To make the most of the compact family home, Hutch Design works on an extension and smart storage systems — from [folding walls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/florin-court-flat) to hidden compartments. Among focusing on opening up the space to allow light in, the firm "improved the sense of volume" by lowering the ground floor in favor of increasing the height of the ceiling.
