Designed by Boris Dennler, the chair features a rather [sweeping form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair) that's covered on the exterior with 887 [deformed CDs and DVDs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apartment-nube), which gives it a rather artistic aesthetic. The overlapping form of the discs conveys an almost scaly appearance to have the seating solution looking almost like a mythical creature from the aquatic depths. The 'Compact Disc Chair' maintains an [iridescent aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/color-roller) that will shine differently according to the lighting conditions in a space. This will have it change continuously in appearance and be perfect for those looking to elevate their space with an iridescent touch. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 13% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Upcycling Furniture:** Businesses can repurpose outdated materials like CDs and DVDs to create unique, artistic furniture. - **Artistic Sustainable Design:** There is opportunity for designers and businesses to create products that are both functional and visually appealing while using sustainable materials. - **Dynamic Aesthetics:** With the versatility of lighting, products that change in appearance can continuously offer a new experience to consumers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** The furniture industry can benefit from incorporating sustainable materials and unique designs to stand out in a competitive market. - **Home Decor:** Businesses in the home decor industry can offer products that not only serve a functional purpose but are also visually appealing and environmentally conscious. - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can explore how to optimize the visual effects of dynamic materials and how they can be used to enhance the consumer experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Recycled Dynamic Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bultan-chair.md) - [Chic Recycled Waste Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xox-chair.md) - [Waste-Incorporated Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-chairs.md) - [Sustainably Minded Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conscious-chair.md) - [Conversation-Starting Eco Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delo.md) - [Ribboned Recycled Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ruffini.md) - [Music-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-chair1.md) - [Comfy Printed Component Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3dprinted-chair-design.md) - [Recycled Stacking Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sting-chair.md)
