Natalia Akimov's latest project takes on the interior of a modest-sized apartment, and the results are stunning. Using a [bold monochrome design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grigio-verde) as her base, Akimov plays with the contrasts to give this humble abode a simple and very striking finish. Playing with the accessories and patterns to make this compact apartment design work, the designer mixes the black and white master design with flowery patterned walls. Reminiscent of stark but still surprisingly warm Scandinavian designs, this chic apartment invites you in with its nonthreatening ambiance and turns the notion of compact to cozy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Compact Living:** Designing for smaller spaces while maintaining functionality and aesthetics. - **Monochromatic Design:** Utilizing a single color or tone to create a bold and striking interior design. - **Mixed Patterns:** Combining different patterns in a purposeful and cohesive way to add visual interest to a small space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Opportunities for designers to create innovative solutions for small-space living in a stylish and functional way. - **Furniture:** Developing space-saving and multi-functional furniture pieces for compact living spaces. - **Home Decor:** Providing creative and adaptable decor options for small-space living, including wall decor, lighting, and textiles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartly Designed Compact Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-apartments2.md) - [Nostalgic 70s-Inspired Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-special-studio.md) - [Whimsical Vibrantly Decorated Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daria-vasilkova.md) - [Modern Minimalism Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oldnew.md) - [Jazz Lifestyle-Inspired Dubai Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natalia-contova.md) - [Ultra-Slick Modern Apartment Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-apartment-interior.md) - [Vibrant Palette Experimental Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2bm-apartment.md) - [Playful Apartment Makeovers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onda-apartment.md) - [Contemporary Artful Bright Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/krakow-apartment.md)
