# Crinkled Contemporary Furnishings Ironically, the Commode Grani Keeps Your Clothes Wrinkle-Free By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-05-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/commode-grani References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Grani-Commodo/2549983) For any recent complaints that modern furniture is made with too little care and detail, the Commode Grani would prove to dispel them -- should it be manufactured, of course. It's a rare find for a dresser, sculpted across the entirety of its surfaces with seemingly organic and random crystalline contours and geoform faces. The cubist paintings of Picasso and the practice of origami inspired this piece by Vladimir Tomilov, influencing the crisp folded texture of the stout storage system. What is particularly engaging about the Commode Grani is the way that this creased facade continues across the front of the drawers as well. A captivating visual impression is delivered when the dresser is closed, but it becomes utterly perplexing once the cubbies are open. Vibrant paint colors and a glossy finish dazzle the eyes even further. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Crinkled Furnishings:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to embrace unconventional textures and designs to create visually captivating and unique pieces. - **Organic Contours:** Chance for artists and designers to explore the incorporation of natural, irregular shapes and textures into furniture designs, adding an element of surprise and intrigue. - **Crisp Folded Textures:** Potential for innovative solutions that mimic the crisp folds and creases of origami in furniture design, creating a visually striking and distinct aesthetic. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to introduce unconventional textures and designs to cater to the demand for unique and visually captivating furnishings. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate organic contours and irregular shapes into interior spaces, creating visually intriguing and dynamic environments. - **Art and Design:** Innovation opportunities to explore the fusion of art and furniture design, incorporating crisp folded textures and unconventional forms to create visually striking pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Hidden Compartment Metallic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stainless-steel-furniture-set.md) - [Sculptural Living Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cromatica.md) - [Curvaceous Storage-Packed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/embrace-sideboard.md) - [Nature-Inspired Mesmerizing Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/genipadu-sideboard.md) - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Reimagined Monolithic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture.md) - [Textured Modern Furniture Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touch-collections.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md)
