# Abstract Superhero Mash-Ups This Inventive Comic Collage Art Blends Parts of Different Superheroes By Charlotte Joyce Kidd | Published 2015-09-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-collage References: [hypebeast](http://hypebeast.com/2015/9/ashkan-honavar-superheroes-art) & [mashkulture.net](http://mashkulture.net/2015/09/17/ashkan-honarvar-heroes) In his unique comic collage art, modern artist Ashkan Honarvar takes clippings form different comic books and puts them together in fascinating combinations to create blended superhero designs. The unusual works of comic collage art are made up of a jumble of [superhero limbs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-heroes-vs-villains), spandex-clad body parts and chopped-apart costumes, usually tumbling through a background of simply-drawn foliage and plant life that looks like it came out of an antique botanical catalog. Each fantastical scene contains a single speech or thought bubble, which lend the comic collage art pieces a thought-provoking, sometimes eerie overtone. In one image, a seven-limbed, torso-less and headless [Captain America](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-and-disney) clutches at the stem of a giant wildflower, thinking "...could be so easily cured!" The effect is slightly unsettling and deeply intriguing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Comic Collage Art:** Exploring the unique blend of superhero elements through collage art can create disruptive innovation opportunities in the art industry. - **Mixed Media Techniques:** The use of mixed media and unconventional approaches in art can lead to disruptive innovation in artistic expression. - **Blurred Boundaries:** Blur the lines between different superheroes and their characteristics through creative collages for potential disruptive innovation in storytelling and character development. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** The art industry stands to benefit from the disruptive innovation opportunities presented by comic collage art and mixed media techniques. - **Publishing and Entertainment:** The publishing and entertainment industries can explore new storytelling possibilities by leveraging the concept of blended superheroes in their comics, movies, and television shows. - **Fashion and Merchandise:** The fashion and merchandise industries can capitalize on the popularity of superhero culture by incorporating comic collage art techniques into their designs, leading to disruptive innovation in product offerings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Superhero-Themed DIY Art Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jim-lee-batman.md) - [3D Superhero Block-Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazing-spiderman-set.md) - [Comic-Inspired Soda Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-heroes.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Comic Book Hero Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md) - [Personalized Comic Book Creation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamcanvas.md) - [Card-Comic Book Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-snap-1.md) - [Deconstructed Pop Art NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matt-gondek.md)
