# Architectural Light Tubes Lang & Baumann's Comfort #4 Installation is Chaotically Knotted By Meghan Young | Published 2011-03-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comfort-4 References: [todayandtomorrow.net](http://www.todayandtomorrow.net/2011/03/24/comfort-4/) & [langbaumann](http://www.langbaumann.com/) The Comfort #4 light installation would have been one stunning art project to see in person. Unfortunately, it was presented during Paris' 2010 Nuit Blanche, so it can now only be appreciated in photos that pop up on the Web from time to time. Created by Lang & Baumann, the Comfort #4 light installation featured nine huge tubes that were woven through the windows of two floors of the [Ecole Elementaire de Belleville](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavillon-de-design) in Paris. The result was a [mind-boggling, chaotic knot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shen-sculpture) of illumination. The Comfort #4 light installation's three-dimensional effect was especially captivating. It is almost as if the building was taken over by an alien being. I can only hope that the Comfort #4 light installation pops up somewhere around me so that I can see it in person. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Architectural Installations:** There is an opportunity to continue to develop large-scale, awe-inspiring installations that utilize light and architecture in unique ways. - **3D Light Rendering:** The Comfort #4 light installation demonstrates the potential of 3D light rendering technology, which could be utilized in other artistic and commercial applications. - **Interactive Light Art:** Art installations like Comfort #4 can inspire the development of interactive light art that immerses viewers in a multi-sensory experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art & Design:** Art and design industries can benefit from the use of large-scale, innovative installations like the Comfort #4 light installation. - **Architecture:** The Comfort #4 installation highlights the potential for lighting to be incorporated into architectural design in unique and eye-catching ways. - **Event Production:** Event producers can take inspiration from Comfort #4 to create immersive and visually stunning lighting installations for concerts, festivals, and live events. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stunningly Intricate Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light.md) - [Intricate Lighting Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest1.md) - [Swirled Public Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tunnel-vision-installation.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Physics-Based Artful Light Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aura-collection-1.md) - [Immersive Crystal Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immersive-crystal-installation.md) - [Glowing Tubular Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/array-lighting.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Tubed Immersive Organ-Like Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organlike-installation.md)
