# Torpedo-Targeting Systems The Command Combat System Enables Efficient and Targeted Torpedo Firing By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2016-03-09 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/combat-system References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/hms-artful-submarine-torpedo-firing-ccs/42100/) & [gov.uk](https://www.gov.uk/government/news/royal-navys-newest-sub-test-fires-torpedo-using-50-million-uk-made-advanced-combat-system) The [Command](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mediwave) Combat System is an extremely advanced and sophisticated suite of technologies that enables submarines like the [British Royal Navy's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/company-of-heroes-3) HMS Artful to accurately use torpedoes to take out enemy targets. Designed by [BAE Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vtol-drones), the Command Combat System uses an array of sensors to track targets, before using the pertinent data to inform torpedo trajectories. What's great about this technology is that it uses easily available components and a special slew of algorithms that create a high-tech torpedo-controlling 'brain' that functions like a single computer environment rather than a disjointed set of systems. The system can be retrofitted to various war boats and submarines as well as next-generation Royal Navy submarines. Ultimately, the Command Combat System will enable more efficient and targeted use of torpedoes to engage targets in the course of naval warfare. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Advanced Torpedo-targeting Systems:** Explore advanced technologies and algorithms for more accurate torpedo targeting in naval warfare. - **Integrated Command Combat Systems:** Discover seamless and comprehensive command combat systems that function as a unified environment. - **Retrofitting Torpedo Control Systems:** Understand the potential for retrofitting existing war boats and submarines with advanced torpedo control systems. ### Where This Applies - **Defense and Military:** Identify opportunities for integrating advanced torpedo-targeting systems in the defense and military sector. - **Maritime Technology:** Explore innovations in torpedo-controlling technologies specifically designed for submarines and war boats. - **Artificial Intelligence and Sensor Technology:** Discover how the integration of AI and sensor technologies can revolutionize torpedo trajectory calculations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Missile-Fooling Aircraft Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antiradar-system.md) - [Innovative Maritime Transportation Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maritime-transportation-system.md) - [Compact Luxury Submersibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hightech-submersible.md) - [Timed Release Fishing Traps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tr4rt.md) - [Futuristic Missile Interceptors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/missile-interceptor.md) - [Manta Ray-Inspired Submarines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kronos-armored-submarine.md) - [Maritime Patrol Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonobuoy-dispensing-system.md) - [Magnetic Mine-Detection Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minedetection-system.md) - [Missile-Firing Unmanned Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/missilefiring-unmanned-drone.md)
