French designer Patrick Norguet recently gave a [McDonald's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/french-vegetable-fries) restaurant a contemporary upgrade by outfitting it with a series of colorful light boxes. When it comes to [chain restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omg-burger-i), most consumers are used to seeing the same decor at each and every location. This McDonald's delivers a different kind of dining experience with its visually captivating interior.

As part of an effort to give the fast food chain a new architectural identity in France, Norguet revamped an old McDonald's location on the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Norguet went to work pairing raw concrete with sheet metal to give the building a sleek, industrial feel. He then added a series of colorful light boxes to the ceiling to bring a sense of whimsy into the space. He also redesigned the layout of the restaurant in order to integrate new technology and maximize customer convenience.
