# Colorful Mediterranean Decor This Restaurant is Characterized by Its Colorful Interiors By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-06-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorful-interiors References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/06/18/kessalao-by-masquespacio/) & [masquespacio](http://masquespacio.com/) Spanish design consultancy Masquespacio has designed the colorful interior of a [Mediterranean take-out restaurant](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sid-lee-architecture) located in Bonn, Germany. The space is intended to symbolize the brand through a range of the most popular German colors. The most predominant hue is, without a doubt, a bright red, followed by mediterranean blues and yellows. The brightness of these shades are anchored by a bold, sobering purple, offering some ballast to the design. In terms of material, the walls are made from [birch veneer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pppler) while the furniture is constructed out of pine, ensuring the space looks natural despite its penchant for color. Certain elements were constructed out of raffia, adding a Mediterranean touch. Ana Milena Hernández Palacios explains, “I wanted to metaphorize the recollection of fruits and vegetables through the hampers of Raffia.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Colorful Interiors:** Exploring vibrant and bold color schemes in interior design to create visually stunning spaces. - **Mediterranean-inspired Decor:** Incorporating elements from Mediterranean culture and aesthetics into interior design for a unique and vibrant ambiance. - **Natural Materials in Design:** Using sustainable and organic materials in interior design to create a harmonious and eco-friendly space. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can benefit from incorporating colorful and Mediterranean-inspired elements to create visually appealing spaces for clients. - **Hospitality:** Hotels, resorts, and restaurants can leverage Mediterranean-inspired decor to create immersive and unique dining experiences for their guests. - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the use of natural materials in designing sustainable and visually striking structures and spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bold Bright Burger Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipnfry.md) - [Blue-Accented Greek Restaurant Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/egeo-greek.md) - [Mediterranean Casual Dining Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mediterranean-casual-dining.md) - [Playful Restaurant Elevations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toms-pasta.md) - [German Ambiance Bakery Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acid-bakery.md) - [Mediterranean-Inspired Restaurant Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zaytinya-nyc.md) - [Coastal-Inspired Home Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-puerto.md) - [Grotto-Like Punctuated Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cibaria.md) - [Fast-Casual Industrial Style Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rale-milanga.md)
