Jean-Sébastien Poncet took inspiration for his bench designs from the various forms and anatomical structures of animal bodies. Created from bronze metal blocks fused together, these animal benches look like toy figurines from a child's imagination. The obscure minimalist design of these benches encourage users are to sit upright and dangle their feet over either side. Currently there are only four [animal inspired designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ark-collection): a red deer, a blue bull and a yellow cow. While these colorful benches look more like [gallery sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pul-collection) than comfortable benches, they are a creatively different twist on the typical park bench. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal-inspired Furniture:** Opportunity to create animal-inspired furniture pieces that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. - **Minimalist Design:** Innovation potential to apply the obscure minimalist design to other types of furniture to encourage different sitting postures. - **Sculptural Furniture:** Opportunity to create pieces of furniture that have both functional use and aesthetic value like gallery sculptures. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Industry opportunity to create innovative and creative designs for furniture. - **Park and Outdoor Furniture:** Opportunity to create unique and playful benches for parks and outdoor spaces. - **Artistic Design:** Industry opportunity to create furniture that serves as both functional use and artistic value. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bold Patterned Tubular Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leopard-bench.md) - [Sculptural Seating Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin.md) - [Industrial Wrapped Plywood Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-bench.md) - [Curvaceous Sculptural Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench.md) - [Cocoon-Inspired Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gandan-bench.md) - [Artfully Crafted Public Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/us-her-him.md) - [Elegantly Airy Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-bench.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Spiral-Inspired Minimal Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soul-sculpture-bench.md)
