# Color Changing Houses Roberto Cavalli's Rainbow Residence By Cecilia Biemann | Published 2008-11-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/color-changing-houses-roberto-cavallis-rainbow-residence References: [homedesignfind](http://www.homedesignfind.com/architecture/color-changing-house-by-italo-rota/) It makes perfect sense that a [fashion designer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miles-c-bates) wouldn't settle for a pad with bland white walls and boring beige decor, but this [colour-changing house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/color-roller) designed by Italo Rota for Roberto Cavalli takes residential color creativity to a whole new level. At this beautiful rainbow residence in the hills of Florence, Italy, Cavalli can change the color of his house to best suit his mood. I wonder which color will inspire his next killer collection? **Implications** - For a time, it was enough to own or rent a house, however, as property prices fell and living standards rose, personalizing the architecture or design of your domicile became more important. At the moment, few companies offer home-owners robust customization options, so a window of opportunity still exists for realtors or designers to meet the growing demande. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Color-changing Architecture:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create innovative structures that allow residents to change the color of their homes based on their preferences and moods. - **Personalized Home Design:** Realtors and designers can capitalize on the demand for customizable homes by offering robust customization options to homeowners. - **Residential Color Creativity:** An opportunity for designers and fashion brands to incorporate color-changing elements into residential spaces, adding a unique and creative touch to home decor. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects can explore and develop color-changing building materials and techniques to create visually stunning and customizable structures. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can embrace color-changing technologies and offer personalized home decor solutions to meet the growing demand for unique living spaces. - **Real Estate:** Realtors can differentiate their offerings by partnering with designers or architects to provide customizable homes that allow buyers to personalize their living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elevated Design-Forward Pink Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pink-villa1.md) - [Climate-Responsive Color-Changing Paints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorchanging-paint-1.md) - [Ultra-Colorful High-Density Residential Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design.md) - [Geometric Colorful Residential Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphic-house.md) - [Luxe Metaverse Mansions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavalli-mansion.md) - [90s-Inspired Vibrant Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holboro-house.md) - [Vibrantly Colored Retro Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellow-house.md) - [Vibrant Milanese Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milanese-apartment.md) - [Warm Colorful Property Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leah-ring.md)
