# Perforated Dining Tables The Colino Round Table by Riva 1920 Plays with Light and Shadow By Meghan Young | Published 2014-05-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colino-round-table References: [deconiche](http://www.deconiche.com/colino-round-table-riva/) & [riva1920.it](http://www.riva1920.it/en/prodotti/tables/colino-round/) The Colino Round Table is a stunning piece of furniture that relies on a relatively simple decorative design to elevate it from simple to striking. The surface of the [dining table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/savvia) has been perforated to allow light to pierce through, casting an interesting shadow pattern on its cone-shaped base, which is covered in matching markings, and the floor. If it were not for these perforations, the Colino Round Table would be a rather common minimalist design with a sleek modern touch. Designed by [Riva](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/riva-collection) 1920, the Colino Round Table was made using a special process and a machine that boasts five axes. It is made out of [solid cedar wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collective-collection). A great addition to both modern and traditional homes, the Colino Round Table is also available in rectangular and square versions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Perforated Furniture:** With the use of perforations, furniture designs can create unique patterns and play with light and shadow for a striking visual effect. - **Minimalist Design:** Minimalist furniture designs with sleek modern touches continue to be popular choices for both modern and traditional homes. - **Specialized Woodworking Techniques:** Using specialized woodworking techniques and machines, furniture manufacturers can create intricate and eye-catching designs like the Colino Round Table. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore opportunities in creating perforated furniture designs that offer unique visual appeals to customers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate minimalist furniture designs, such as the Colino Round Table, into their projects to create stylish and contemporary living spaces. - **Woodworking Machinery:** Companies specializing in woodworking machinery can develop and market advanced machines capable of producing complex designs, like the perforated dining table, with high precision. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Colorful Premium Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda.md) - [Elegant Tonal Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silos-collection.md) - [Chic Stone Fragment Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skrivo-for-miniforms-pinto.md) - [Concrete Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora.md) - [Effortless Glass Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbital.md) - [Geometric Table Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solis-collection.md) - [Juxtaposing Material Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compression-dining-table.md) - [Contemporary Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-table-designs.md) - [Elegant Metal Perforated Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp.md)
