# Turf-Embedded Tables Coffee Table T12 Incorporates an Opening for Storage or Decor By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffee-table-t12 References: [furnitureserved](http://www.furnitureserved.com/gallery/Coffee-Table-t12/2476455) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Coffee-Table-t12/2476455) The safe way to design a [piece of furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) that's intended to hold things is to give it a broad flat top that can accommodate an undefined number of objects that take various shapes and sizes. Interestingly, when the designers of the Coffee Table T12 broke from this basic convention, they ended up with a piece that is likely a whole lot more practical. Beginning with a generous [rectangular block of wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table), 3WORK cut a circular hole into one corner. Sure, this adjustment reduces the usable surface area of the furnishing, but it also affords creative and flexible functionality. This round opening can accommodate the placement of a [flower pot or a planter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polka-coffee-table), or perhaps a stack of rolled up magazines or newspapers. Stashed remote controls and miscellaneous storage also prove the usefulness of the Coffee Table T12's unique feature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Dual-purpose Tables:** Creating furniture pieces that serve multiple functions rather than just a single purpose, such as providing additional storage or space. - **Innovative Table Design:** Designing tables with unique features and shapes to increase practicality and enhance aesthetics. - **Minimalist Furniture Design:** Creating furniture designs that are functional, aesthetically pleasing and promote organization. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturing companies can create dual-purpose tables that satisfy the needs of consumers and promote organization. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate innovative table designs into their projects to enhance the overall aesthetic of a space. - **Home Decor and Furnishings Retail:** Retail companies can offer minimalist furniture designs to consumers looking to optimize their living space while still maintaining an organized and aesthetically pleasing home. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bookshelf-Incorporated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/overlap-table.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Artful Coffee Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertushka.md) - [Metal Sheet Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-side-table.md) - [Curvaceous Animalistic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookpet-coffee-table.md) - [Discreet Compartment Modern Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taarof-table.md) - [Bent Multi-Functional Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shell-table.md) - [Spinning Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-spinning-coffee-table.md)
