# Manly Wired Sculptures The Coffee Man by Ruth Jensen is a Web of Wonder By Ana Lopez | Published 2011-10-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffee-man-ruth-jensen References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/wired-coffee-man) & [sparkflightstudio](http://sparkflightstudio.com/) The [Coffee Man](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expensive-coffee) by Ruth Jenson is a structure made out of wire featuring a man leisurely drinking coffee from a paper cup. This unique man knows how to enjoy an endless coffee break, full of reading and enjoyment -- he’s even accompanied by a cute wired man’s best friend. The Coffee Man is pretty popular on the web and it now belongs to [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hopped-up-coffee)’s Headquarters in New York. Even though minimalist, this [wire sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept) is truly a wonder because the man’s face and posture actually shows happiness and pleasure -- one can’t deny that the Coffee Man is having a blast. I believe that his realism is what awakes so much love for this friend and his dog. Additionally, wire is simple a fun material to work with, as it creates almost invisible 3-D art works. The artist explains, “I think wire is a magical medium: almost fluid in its flexibility, incredibly lightweight, amazingly sturdy and resilient, eco-friendly, and capable of producing infinite effects.” The Coffee Man certainly created many visual and emotional effects -- he is just hilarious and entertaining to watch. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Wire Sculptures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to use wire as a medium for creating unique and visually captivating sculptures. - **Minimalist Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Find innovative ways to convey emotions and realism with minimalistic artistic designs. - **3D Artworks:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Discover novel techniques to create almost invisible 3D art pieces using wire as a material. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Sculpture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new markets and applications for wire sculptures in the art industry. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create wire-based home decor products that offer a unique visual appeal and minimalist aesthetic. - **Eco-friendly Crafts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design sustainable wire-based craft products that align with the growing demand for eco-friendly options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Organically Curvaceous Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-coffee-machine.md) - [Instrument-Resembling Coffee Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trumpet-coffee.md) - [$1,000 Coffee Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expensive-coffee.md) - [Sci-Fi Show Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yusuke-hanai-1.md) - [Coffee Grounds-Made Home Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffee-grounds-as-material.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Metallic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisk.md) - [Character Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-moky.md) - [Bean-Shaped Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bean-coffee-machine.md)
