# Radiant Coat Racks The Coatlight by Mathias Hahn is a Doubly Inviting Home Accessory By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-09-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coatlight-by-mathias-hahn References: [mathiashahn](http://www.mathiashahn.com/furniture/coatlight.html) It's products like the Coatlight by Mathias Hahn that get me excited about furniture design. This is quite a simple object that's been brilliantly composed to carry out not one but two functions. What we have here is a [floor lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-lamp) that doubles as a coatrack. The [minimalist and natural design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design) comprises a basic tripod of three pieces of [solid oak wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-soul). These taper together as they rise and reciprocally hold a spun aluminum lampshade by means of wingnuts. The product is very easy to assemble and it greatly simplifies the situation in front foyers and bedrooms. Instead of requiring a light fixture and clothes hooks as separate items, the Coatlight fulfills your organizational and illumination needs delightfully, taking up a fraction of the space and reducing unnecessary clutter. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Multi-function Furniture:** The Coatlight by Mathias Hahn showcases the trend of furniture designs that serve multiple functions, providing an opportunity for innovative multi-purpose products. - **Minimalist Design:** The Coatlight's minimalist design reflects the growing trend in furniture towards simplicity and elegance, presenting an opportunity for disruptive innovation in sleek and functional home accessories. - **Space-saving Solutions:** The Coatlight's ability to combine a floor lamp and a coatrack into a single product addresses the need for space-saving solutions, opening up possibilities for innovative designs that optimize limited space in homes and offices. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The Coatlight highlights the potential for furniture manufacturers to create innovative multi-functional pieces that appeal to consumers looking for practical and space-saving solutions. - **Interior Design:** The minimalist design trend showcased by the Coatlight presents opportunities for interior designers to incorporate sleek and versatile furniture pieces into their projects, creating a modern and functional aesthetic. - **Lighting Industry:** The combination of a floor lamp and a coatrack in the Coatlight demonstrates a disruptive innovation opportunity for the lighting industry to diversify their product offerings and cater to individuals seeking efficient and multi-purpose lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tripod-Like Garment Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-coat-rack.md) - [Ultra-Slick Functional Home Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/functional-home-accessories.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Illuminating Home Display Pedestals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/welcome-decor-piece.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Wall-Mounted Wall Rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto.md)
