# Minimalist Entrance Furniture The Coat Rack by Annabelle Nichols Boasts a Variety of Functions By Meghan Young | Published 2013-11-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coat-rack-by-annabelle-nichols References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/11/22/multifunctional-and-minimalist-coat-rack/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Coat-rack-for-Bonnie/11799375) The coat rack by Annabelle Nichols looks like something that belongs in the portfolio of [Nendo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nendo-andon-table), or some other modern Japanese design studio. Instead, it was designed by a native New Zealander with a deep appreciation of minimalist aesthetics and practical functions. In a way, the coat rack by Annabelle Nichols is much more than a coat rack. It is a whole storage unit made for the front entrance of a home. The three wooden sticks that are meant for outerwear are slotted into a simultaneous white table and foot rack. The two tiered surface even has a gap that acts as a sort of [magazine rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skola). Overall, every surface of the unit is very useful. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimalist Furniture:** Designing functional furniture with minimalist aesthetics is a growing trend. - **Multifunctional Design:** Creating furniture pieces that serve multiple purposes is becoming increasingly popular. - **Integrated Storage Solutions:** Designing furniture with built-in storage features is on the rise. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Innovative furniture designers can leverage minimalism and functionality to create disruptive products. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate multifunctional furniture pieces like coat racks with storage to optimize space. - **Home Organization:** Companies specializing in home organization can provide integrated storage solutions to meet the demand for functional entrance furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Shoe Rack Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tokyo-shoe-rack.md) - [Stylish Multi-Use Entryway Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/entryway-shoe-rack.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Intuitive Entryway Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-front-stool.md) - [Storage-Equipped Restaurant Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rack-chair.md) - [Envelope-Style Shoe Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoe-storage-rack.md) - [Wall-Mounted Wall Rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto.md) - [Bifold Functional Storage Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabine-mirror.md) - [Wall Art Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justin-case.md)
