# Towering Coastline Cabins This Cabin Was Built to Take Advantage of the Surrounding Views By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-05-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coastline-cabin References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2016/05/24/contemporary-cabin-in-cape-breton/) & [designbase8](http://www.designbase8.com/) This tall and narrow Cape Breton coastline cabin was designed by [Design Base 8](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/powerhouse-company) and Omar Gandhi Architect. The cabin is in Nova Scotia, Canada and takes advantage of the surrounding views with its staggering height. It stands tall on top of a hill and is surrounded by trees and the coastline of the Cape Breton area. The cabin does not feel like the typical cottage -- its modern exterior and high ceilings give it a unique look. Standing alone upon a hill top, this coastline cabin gives off an eerie but simultaneously comforting atmosphere. The interior of this cabin features prove the beauty of the surrounding nature with [floor-to-ceiling windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timber-nest) that showcase the spectacular view. With its unique design, this cabin signals a shift towards more glamorous "cottage living" than what most were used to growing up. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Tall and Narrow Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to maximize space and create unique architectural designs in small or narrow areas. - **Floor-to-ceiling Windows:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative window designs and technologies that provide immersive views and enhance the connection between interior and exterior spaces. - **Glamorous Cottage Living:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create luxury cottage experiences by combining modern design elements with natural surroundings, catering to individuals seeking a high-end escape. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Construction:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate new materials and construction techniques to design and build tall and narrow structures that optimize space usage. - **Window and Glass Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced glass technologies and window systems to enable expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that enhance interior views and energy efficiency. - **Luxury Hospitality and Travel:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create upscale cottage accommodations that combine high-end amenities, stylish design, and breathtaking natural surroundings to attract luxury travelers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Angular Getaway Cabin Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfmoon-bay.md) - [Elevated Forest Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/columbia-river-valley-lookout.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md) - [Forest-Treetop Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/more-cabin.md) - [Miniature Seaside Wooden Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alexander-mcgee.md) - [Mountain Retreat Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-cabin.md) - [X-Shaped Nature-Interacting Gabled Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fowl-river-cabin.md) - [Timber-Clad Canadian Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-cime.md) - [Coastal Bright Red Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handegrd-arkitektur.md)
