# Mexican Artist Coasters This Frida Kahlo Coaster Design by Seth Muertos Makes Coffee Bolder By Alyson Wyers | Published 2013-10-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coaster-design References: [fancy](http://fancy.com/things/252812635/Frida-Kahlo-Coasters) & [surropa](http://www.surropa.com/FRIDA-KAHLO-COASTERS--SET-OF-4-_p_1490.html) This coaster design features a bold print of Frida Kahlo, a [Mexican artist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-cetto) known for her [self-portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salvador-dal-collection). The coasters are made out of masonite board, giving them natural resistance to moistness and a soft yet solid feel. The images by Seth Muertos make the coaster design great for keeping your table surfaces safe, but also as a hanging art piece. The set of four could be attached to a zigzag hanger in this circumstance. The Frida Kahlo coasters are a fun and artistic addition to any home, not to mention a great conversation piece while entertaining or enjoying coffee or tea with friends. The bright colors add an interesting visual element to a kitchen item not usually recognized for its design potential. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Bold-printed Coasters:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create customizable coasters with bold and unique prints, allowing consumers to personalize their home decor. - **Art-inspired Home Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design a range of home accessories inspired by famous artists, injecting creativity and personality into everyday items. - **Functional Hanging Art Pieces:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine practicality and aesthetics by creating home decor items that can be both functional and visually appealing when displayed as hanging art pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new materials and design techniques to create innovative and visually striking home decor products that cater to consumers' desire for unique and artistic items. - **Personalized Gifts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a line of customizable coasters and home accessories that can be personalized with customers' favorite artworks or photographs, providing them with unique gift options. - **Art Merchandise:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with contemporary artists to create merchandise featuring their artwork, expanding their reach and offering consumers a way to incorporate art into their everyday lives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Barbie-Inspired Coaster Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbieinspired-coaster-set.md) - [Turntable-Inspired Coaster Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/needledrop-coaster-set.md) - [Mexican-Painter-Inspired Fragrances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frida-kahlo-eau.md) - [Mexican Artist-Honoring Cannabis Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alas-pa-volar.md) - [Astrological Drinkware Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zodiac-constellation-coasters.md) - [Aquatic Beverage Coasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crab-inspired-coasters.md) - [Artist-Designed Tequila Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/essential-artist-series.md) - [Cork Coaster-Integrated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polka-coffee-table.md) - [Mexican Artist Tequila Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gonzalo-lebrija.md)
