# Arachnid-Accommodating Jardinieres The Co-Habitation Planter Gives Spiders a Home By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-04-26 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/co-habitation-planter References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/04/25/living-with-spiders/) At a certain point one must accept that spiders share your home; the Co-Habitation Planter is a solution that should keep both parties comfortable and contently separate. Designed by Nicolas Roesch, this [wooden flower pot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere) incorporates a nook that acts as the perfect crevice for creepy-crawlies, literally asking to accommodate the eight-legged insects. Perhaps this will deter them from making themselves at home under your lampshade? To make the space all the more enticing, [LED lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planto) are implanted within the rounded alcove, which will attract arachnids and most importantly, their winged prey. The inner illumination is powered by [solar panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-gardening-1), making the Co-Habitation Planter great for patios as well as indoor placement. The cozy environment gives you the control to put up those pesky insects anywhere you see fit -- perhaps somewhere where they can work for you. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Co-habitation Planter:** The Co-Habitation Planter provides a unique solution for coexisting with spiders by creating a comfortable living space for both parties. - **Arachnid-friendly Design:** The incorporation of nooks and LED lights in the Co-Habitation Planter appeals to spiders and their prey, offering a disruptive innovation in pest control. - **Sustainable Outdoor Lighting:** The use of solar panels to power the LED lights in the Co-Habitation Planter presents an opportunity for sustainable outdoor lighting solutions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The Co-Habitation Planter introduces a new approach to home decor by considering the cohabitation with spiders, catering to a specific consumer need. - **Pest Control:** The design elements of the Co-Habitation Planter offer a disruptive innovation in pest control by providing a natural and attractive environment for spiders. - **Green Energy:** The use of solar panels in the Co-Habitation Planter showcases an opportunity for the green energy industry to expand into innovative outdoor lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Demure Dual-Function Hanging Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-fixture-planter.md) - [Basket-Inspired Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-engine-spot.md) - [Beetle-Inspired Sustainable Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fog-smart.md) - [Posh Plant-Supporting Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ample-plant-light-n1.md) - [Virtual Pet Planter Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-pot-concept.md) - [Plant-Cultivating Home Furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-4.md) - [Naturalistic Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apot-selfwatering-planter.md) - [Dementia Support Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-smart-planter.md) - [Digital Interaction Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planta-planter.md)
