Instead of the traditional combo of pimentos (sweet red peppers) and mayonnaise, Shake Shack has opted for a tasty pairing of sharp cheddar mixed with chopped cherry peppers and ShackSauce. This fresh twist on pimento cheese sauce is then paired with a breaded fried chicken breast, lettuce, pickles, and ShackSauce to create the Clubhouse Pimento Cheese Chicken Sandwich. Similarly, the new burger features the pimento cheese sauce with a quarter-pound burger patty, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a potato bun. As Shake Shack's Executive Chef John Karangis explains, "Pimento cheese is a deeply rooted Southern staple that deserves a spot on the national stage."
