# Ethereal Tubular Lighting Cloud Softlight by molo is Delicate and Graceful By Meghan Young | Published 2013-03-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-softlight References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/03/26/cloud-floor-table-softlights-by-molo/) & [molodesign](http://molodesign.com/products/cloud-softlight/) There is a good reason why the word 'soft' has been included in the name of the [Cloud Softlight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oort) series. Delicate in nature, these light fixtures have a whimsical appearance that will soften any living space. Like the big white fluffy clouds they are named after, the lamps in the Cloud Softlight series also add an abstract element to the home, which will encourage imaginations and daydreams. Created by molo, a design studio based in Vancouver, Canada, the Cloud Softlight series is made up of hundreds of cellular honeycomb-like forms. Using LEDs, each lamp provides a [gentle glow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightmass) that complements their ethereal existence. Resting on thin demountable wooden bases, the Cloud Softlight series is comprised of floor, table and ceiling lamps. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Ethereal Lighting:** Design and create soft and whimsical lighting that adds an abstract element to the home. - **Honeycomb-like Forms:** Incorporate honeycomb-like forms in lighting fixtures to provide a unique aesthetic and a gentle glow that complements their ethereal existence. - **Demountable Bases:** Create lighting fixtures with demountable bases that allow for easy setup and portability. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Develop lighting fixtures that can add a whimsical and abstract element to a living space. - **Interior Design:** Incorporate honeycomb-like forms in lighting fixtures to provide a unique aesthetic and ambiance in different interior design projects. - **Lighting Design:** Design lighting fixtures with demountable bases that are easy to install and can be transported easily for different events and shows. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Soft Comfort Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-lamp.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Balloon-Like Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-blown.md) - [Ice Cream-Resembling Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-serve-lamp.md) - [Comet-Inspired Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oort.md) - [Glowing Tubular Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/array-lighting.md) - [3D-Printed Cloud-Like Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightmass-2025-pendants.md) - [Creative Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drape-light.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md)
