# Cloud Key Holders Duncan Shotton Created a Dreamy Way to Keep Keys in Sight By Meghan Young | Published 2014-09-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-key-holder References: [bookofjoe](http://www.bookofjoe.com/2014/09/cloud-magnetic-key-holder.html) & [gnr8.biz](http://www.gnr8.biz/product_info.php?products_id=1433&products_name=Cloud) The cloud key holder is made for dreamers. Shaped like a cartoon cloud, it boasts a magnetic base to allow metal rings and keys to dangle underneath it as though they represent the downpour. Granted, the cloud is white and fluffy, not dark and grey. So the design isn't as ominous as it could have been. But who would want their cloud key holder to have a negative impact on the home? Designed by Duncan Shotton, the cloud key holder is a minimalist design that is meant to be mounted on the wall near the entrance. The perfect home for such an important object, the cloud key holder brings a whimsical touch into the living space without being too tacky or overwhelming. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Whimsical Home Decor:** Designers can create similar dreamlike designs to spice up the aesthetics of a household. - **Magnetic Key Holders:** Magnetic key holders can be designed with various themes or shapes to offer utility and decoration simultaneously. - **Cloud-inspired Designs:** Designers can incorporate cloud-like shapes to bring a playful touch to various household items. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** Home decor designers can create unique and dreamy pieces to add a touch of flair to a household's aesthetics. - **Magnetic Products:** Magnetic product developers can expand the use of magnetic technology to create innovative solutions, such as key holders and other organizational items. - **Novelty Giftware:** Companies can create playful and whimsical designs that function as practical giftware items for consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Key Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniki.md) - [Whimsical Item-Holding Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightray.md) - [Organic Cloud-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/khmara.md) - [Playful Sponge Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sponge-holder1.md) - [Magnetic Document-Holding Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holder-desk-lamp.md) - [Whimsical Cloud-Shaped Pipes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloudshaped-pipe.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Cloud-Inspired Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1.md) - [Smiley Clothing Wall Hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/itsahook.md)
