# Accordion-Inspired Seats The Fabio Capello Cloister Bench is Very Unconventional By Armida Ascano | Published 2011-09-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloister-bench References: [zeutch](http://www.zeutch.com/design/cloister-bench-27529) The Cloister Bench is another awesome piece designed by Fabio Capello. Though the seat does seem to function like any other bench (pretty straightforward -- you sit on it) its looks are unlike any other [seating piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench) I've ever seen. The bench follows a standing, [circular pattern](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench) not unlike a rack of lamb, but is folded to resemble an accordion. The best part about the seat is its ability to ensure all those sitting on it can see eye to eye, which encourages interactivity and actual, [in-person socializing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-bench) that is growing less frequent nowadays. The Cloister Bench is also a bright, bold shade of blue, which is the color of calmness and serenity. Ultimately, this unconventional, yet inviting bench is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy an awesome structure. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Circular Seating:** The accordion-inspired design of the Cloister Bench provides a unique and interactive seating experience. - **Eye-level Socializing:** The bench's circular pattern promotes face-to-face interaction and encourages in-person socializing. - **Bold Color Furniture:** The bright blue color of the Cloister Bench creates a visually striking piece of furniture. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Incorporating circular seating designs in furniture can offer innovative and unconventional options for seating arrangements. - **Event Planning:** Circular seating arrangements can be utilized in event spaces to facilitate conversations and networking. - **Hospitality:** Integrating bold and interactive seating designs can enhance the guest experience in hotels, restaurants, and lounges. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Seating Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Leather Strap Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stacked-bench.md) - [Paper Cord-Wrapped Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-bench.md) - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Threshold Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torii.md) - [Minimalist Meditative Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pause-bench.md) - [Industrial Wrapped Plywood Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-bench.md) - [Recycled Resin Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cresta.md)
