# Creepy Crawly Lanterns Black + Blum Created the Freakiest Nightlight with the Climbing Light By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-05-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/climbing-light References: [crnchy](http://crnchy.com/design/the-climbing-light-by-black-and-blum) & [black-blum](http://www.black-blum.com/products/climbing-light/) Like some alien insect that has been sent to Earth to crawl inside our bodies and control the human race, the Climbing Light by [Black + Blum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrialstyle-lighting) is definitely one of the creepiest nightlights I have ever laid eyes on. Most likely geared towards those who have an affinity for insects and don’t actually mind the notion of a giant bug located on the wall near their head throughout the night, this lamp has its perks. The [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-sleep-light) is almost cute with a bulb capped off in a chrome silver color to ensure the light is more of a concentrated glow. [Little legs adhere to the wall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barnacle-wall-sconce) and can be used for late-night reading in bed. The Climbing light by Black + Blum is whimsically quirky. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Nightlights:** Create minimalist nightlights with unique and quirky designs to appeal to a niche market. - **Insect-inspired Lighting:** Explore the concept of insect-inspired lighting designs to create visually intriguing and unique products. - **Functional Wall Decor:** Combine functionality and aesthetics to create wall-mounted products that serve both as decor and practical lighting solutions. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Incorporate innovative lighting designs into the home decor industry to provide consumers with unique and eye-catching options. - **Children's Products:** Introduce whimsical and quirky nightlights into the children's products industry to add an element of creativity and fun to children's bedrooms. - **Interior Design:** Collaborate with interior designers to create lighting products that not only provide illumination but also serve as unique decorative pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md) - [Kinetic Insect Sculpture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dragonfly-balance-light.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Imaginative Mushroom Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-rabbit-england.md) - [Mood-Setting Adventurous Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guidelight.md) - [Rechargeable Multicolored Dinosaur Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/globe-electric.md) - [Soothing Speaker-Equipped Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lullaby-talk.md) - [Novel-Inspired Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-prince-night-lamp.md)
