Although quite unassuming from the outside, aside from its [angular design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallowwood-cabin), it is a luxurious haven on the inside. The peaked roof gives it an airy atmosphere that also allows room for a sleeping loft. Designed by MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects, the Clear Lake House boasts an [interior lined with Douglas fir](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clt-house). This gives it a distinct cottage feel even though its clear the owners were going for a modern spin. Complete with floor to ceiling windows, the Clear Lake House offers uninhibited views of the surrounding forest and water. It almost feels as though nature pervades every corner of the living space, offering a refreshing sanctuary. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Modern Rustic:** Opportunities for furniture and interior designers to develop new formats that appeal to a modern aesthetic without sacrificing the warmth and comfort of classic wooden architecture - **Eco-tourism:** As the climate crisis intensifies, there are opportunities to invest in sustainable luxury escapes that offer both comfort and environmentally-conscious practices, such as solar energy and carbon offsetting - **Architectural Integration:** Opportunities for architects to explore ways in which indoor living spaces can be seamlessly integrated into natural surroundings, enhancing the sense of immersion in nature through design and engineering ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** Hotels and resorts can capitalize on the trend of sustainable and eco-friendly luxury accommodations in natural settings which offer a unique, tranquil, and secluded environment for their guests - **Real Estate:** Builders and developers can capture the demand for unique and custom luxury homes that reflect nature's beauty by adopting the principles of modern rustic architecture and green building - **Architecture:** Architects can leverage new materials and technologies to combine the stunning aesthetics of traditional wooden homes with modern minimalism, creating a new form of contemporary living that bridges the past and the future ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lakeside Family Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muskoka-lakeside-cottage.md) - [Pavilion-Style Lakeside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clearwater-lake-retreat.md) - [Angular Getaway Cabin Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfmoon-bay.md) - [Thoughtful Lakeside Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakeside-living.md) - [Timber-Clad Canadian Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-cime.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Angular Modern Lakeside Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/memphremagog-lake-residence.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Idyllic Tranquil Nature-Surrounding Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/algonquin-highlands-cottage.md)
