# LED Sterilization Devices Cleanty Uses UVC LED Technology to Kill Off Bacteria By Joey Haar | Published 2016-10-18 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cleanty References: [digitaltrends](http://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/uvc-led-mobile-device/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/740978067/keep-bacteria-off-in-seconds-with-cleanty-led-ster?ref=recs_top) Even though they're invisible, benign and harmful bacteria are all around, and the Cleanty mobile device makes it easier to [sterilize potentially unhygienic objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-sanitation-device). The device uses [LED UVC technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picnic-uv) to either kill or incapacitate bacteria, cleaning all kinds of surfaces within a few seconds simply by shining its light on them. Though it might seem far fetched, all that Cleanty uses to sterilize areas is light pulses. In the same way that sustained [UVA and UVB light exposure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celluma-series-2) can cause damage to people's skin (q.v. sunburns,) UVC light causes damage to bacteria. And, since bacteria are more delicate than humans, it only take a few seconds to cause serious cell damage. As such, simply running the Cleanty over an object for a moment will be enough to sterilize it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **UVC LED Technology:** The use of UVC LED technology for sterilization purposes presents an opportunity for businesses to develop innovative disinfection devices. - **Mobile Sterilization Devices:** The emergence of portable sterilization devices like Cleanty opens up new possibilities for on-the-go disinfection and improved hygiene practices. - **Light-based Sterilization:** The adoption of light-based sterilization techniques offers disruptive innovation opportunities in various industries to create efficient and environmentally-friendly disinfection solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Healthcare:** The healthcare industry can explore the use of UVC LED technology to develop advanced sterilization devices and improve infection control measures. - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can leverage mobile sterilization devices to enhance cleanliness protocols and reassure guests about the safety and hygiene of their establishments. - **Food and Beverage:** The food and beverage industry can benefit from light-based sterilization solutions to ensure food safety and minimize the risk of contamination during production and packaging processes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Powerful UV Sanitation Wands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uv-sanitizer-wand.md) - [Convenient Home Sanitation Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-sanitation-device.md) - [AI-Powered Disinfectant Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uvceed.md) - [Touchless Disinfection Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uvc-led-disinfection-light.md) - [Dual-Purpose Device Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totallee-uv-phone-sanitizer.md) - [Mini Portable Toothbrush Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bril-uvc-toothbrush-sanitizer.md) - [Bacteria-Killing Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uvc-selfcleaning-water-bottle.md) - [UV-C LED Water Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquisense-pearlaqua-deca-30c.md) - [Water Purifier Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladislamp-disinfection.md)
