The series will be hosted by Jessica Curry, co-founder of the [video game studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/video-game-review) 'The Chinese Room' and composer of the score to 'Everybody's Gone to the Rapture,' a highly praised first-person adventure art game. Focusing on [video game music](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halo-original-trilogy-soundtrack-vinyl-box-set) has a dual benefit. For Classic FM, it offers the potential to broaden the audience of people interested in classical music in general, providing an entry point through a more popular medium. For both fans and creators of video games, the miniseries also serves to legitimize the artistic effort that goes into creating the best games. Many people think of video games as childish, simple forms of entertainment, but the fact that they can garner space on a so-called high brow channel like Classic FM could change that opinion. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Video Game Orchestral Music:** The trend of showcasing orchestral music from video games offers an opportunity for gaming studios to promote the artistic effort that goes into creating video games, while also broadening the audience of people interested in classical music. - **Cross-media Collaborations:** The trend of hosting a radio series on classical music in video games opens up opportunities for cross-media collaborations between music and video game industries. - **Artistic/entertainment Legitimization:** The trend of displaying video game music on high-profile platforms like Classic FM serves to help legitimize video games as an art form that requires significant effort, skill, and talent. ### Where This Applies - **Video Game Industry:** The video game industry can capitalize on the trend of showcasing orchestral music from video games by collaborating with music studios to create original scores that can be performed by professional orchestras. - **Classical Music Industry:** The classical music industry can capitalize on the trend of showcasing music from video games by broadening its audience and reaching a new generation of listeners who are fans of video game music. - **Radio Broadcasting Industry:** The radio broadcasting industry can capitalize on the trend of displaying orchestral music from video games by targeting a new segment of listeners who are interested in video game music but may not have been exposed to classical music before. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gamer Music Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-music.md) - [Nostalgic Gaming Console Radios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-radio.md) - [Game-Specific Adaptive Music](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plusmusic.md) - [Cinematic Music Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cinematic-music-experiences.md) - [Artful Audio Box Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/run-box-set.md) - [Album-Inspired Video Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cross-country-legacy.md) - [Nostalgic Game Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/riki-8bit-game-collection.md) - [Musician-Themed Online Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortnite-festival.md) - [Vinyl Video Game Soundtracks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halo-original-trilogy-soundtrack-vinyl-box-set.md)
