America's first ever citizenM hotel popped up in April with the citizenM New York located in close proximity to Times Square. It can be tough to compete with the vibrancy of the city, but the lobby design captures the lively and colorful spirit of NYC perfectly. citizenM brands itself as an offbeat, but affordable way to indulge in luxury, technology and of course, good design. With its headquarters in Amsterdam, it was a natural choice for the hotel to bring together the Amsterdam-based architects of Concrete with executive architect Montroy Andersen DeMarco of MADGI.
The 2,300 square foot lobby for the New York citizenM is set up like an eclectic oversized living room, packed with plenty of seating options, in addition to a bookstore, bar, meeting spaces and access to food. DeMarco describes the space as a "Starbucks, a library, and a restaurant all in one."
