# Tragically Alone Photography 'Circumstance: American Beauty' Series Looks At Difficult Moments By Meghan Young | Published 2011-04-26 | Fashion Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circumstance-american-beauty References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/2011/04/22/circumstance-series/) & [fandf.org](http://www.fandf.org/) It can be tough for women who have dreams and no way of reaching them, and that is exactly what the 'Circumstance: American Beauty' photo series seems to focus on. Tragic and yet romantic in a dark way, it shows women as they search for a better life -- sometimes this search is begun with an escape of some sort that leads to a frightening moment of being all alone in a big, scary world. Photographed by artists BJ and Richeille Formento, the 'Circumstance: American Beauty' photo series' full title is 'Circumstance: American Beauty Swept Down to Bruised Knees.' Instead of focusing on the successes of finding one's own path, the artists have decided to hone in on the trials and tribulations of doing so. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Dream Pursuit:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop platforms or services that empower and support women in pursuing their dreams. - **Escape and Solitude:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create immersive experiences or products that provide a sense of escape and solitude in a safe and comforting environment. - **Unconventional Success:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore unconventional paths to success by challenging societal norms and expectations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize emerging technologies like AI and VR to enhance the artistic process and create unique visual experiences. - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop compelling narratives and interactive storytelling formats that allow individuals to immerse themselves in thought-provoking experiences. - **Personal Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design personalized learning platforms and tools to empower individuals in their personal and professional growth journeys. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Unretouched Photography Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dove-reimagine-beauty.md) - [Photography Project Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1.md) - [Personal Nostalgic Photo Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-ohio.md) - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [Bravery-Celebrating Short Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/all-is-beauty.md) - [Anti-Gender Violence Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antigender-violence-campaign.md) - [Mental Health-Supporting Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-last-photo.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md)
