Available online from Hammacher Schlemmer, the Sidewinding Circular Skates offer a futuristic mode of transport to active folks. The Orbitwheel lets you skateboard without having to push off the ground. Instead you propel yourself by leaning side to side, resulting in snake-like movement. To ride, you simply place your feet on the platforms and lean to rotate the 10 inch rubber wheels that wrap around each foot. The wheels aren't connected to each other, which allows you to perform fancy tricks like 720 degree spins. For added stability, however, they also come with an extendable rod that can attach to both wheels. This is particularly useful for beginners, acting similarly to training wheels. The annular skates can also go over grass and dirt. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Circular Skates:** Circular skates could revolutionize traditional skateboarding by providing a new and unique way to transport. - **Unattached Wheeled Platforms:** The use of unattached wheeled platforms creates disruption in the skateboard industry and introduces a new method of movement. - **Post Modern Transportation:** The creation of post modern transportation options creates further opportunities to disrupt traditional methods of transportation. ### Where This Applies - **Sports and Recreation:** The sports and recreation industry can benefit from incorporating innovative products like circular skates to diversify and expand their offerings. - **Technology:** Technology advancements can be integrated with circular skates to improve usability and safety, which would further differentiate the product and drive innovation. - **Transportation:** Circular skates present an eco-friendly transportation alternative, which can create disruption in the transportation industry and signal the need for more sustainable options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [App-Controlled Skates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appcontrolled-skates.md) - [Motorized Inline Skate Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/escend-blades.md) - [Rugged All-Terrain Rollerblades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allterrain-rollerblades.md) - [Walking Assistance Roller Skates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-roller-skates.md) - [All Terrain Electric Skis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skwheel-one.md) - [Two-Wheeled Surfing-Inspired Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surf-skateboard.md) - [Modular Monowheel Hoverboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naowheel.md) - [Motorized Electric Roller Skates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollwalk-electric-roller-skates.md) - [Electric Inline Skates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atmosgear.md)
