# Looping Fluorescent Bulbs The Circle Hook Light Reimagines a Traditional Concept By Meghan Young | Published 2010-11-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circle-hook-light References: [coolhunting](http://www.coolhunting.com/design/circle-hook-lig.php) & [cwandt](http://cwandt.com/#circle-hook-light) The Circle Hook Light is a reinvention of the [fluorescent bulb](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light) that creates a lighting fixture that is both practical and sculptural. Simple yet stunning, it is the brainchild of ITP alum and studio [CW&T](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/typec-ultra) designer Taylor Levy. It even incorporates how it works into its design. As Cool Hunting explains, "all that's required is simply hooking the bulb onto the fixture to turn [the Circle Hook Light] on then unhooking and rotating it to turn it off." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Reinvented Lighting:** The Circle Hook Light is an example of how traditional lighting concepts can be reimagined to create practical and visually appealing fixtures. - **Practical Sculpture:** The Circle Hook Light combines functionality with artistic design, showcasing the trend of blending practicality and aesthetics in lighting. - **Interactive Lighting:** The Circle Hook Light's unique hooking and rotating mechanism introduces an interactive element to lighting design, highlighting the trend of user engagement. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Design:** The Circle Hook Light demonstrates the potential for disruptive innovation in the lighting design industry, encouraging designers to explore new concepts and approaches. - **Home Decor:** The sculptural and visually appealing design of the Circle Hook Light opens up disruptive innovation opportunities in the home decor industry, offering a unique and functional lighting option for consumers. - **Product Design:** The Circle Hook Light exemplifies innovative approaches to product design, showcasing the potential for disruptive ideas that blend form and function. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Multifunctional C-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clamp.md) - [Flatpack Minimalist Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-loop-lamp.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Magnetic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbe.md) - [3D-Printed Reversed Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revolve-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Levitating Dynamic Ring Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitos.md)
