# Flower Shadow Lighting The Chrysalis Floor Lamp is Both Subtle and Bold By Meghan Young | Published 2011-05-11 | Updated 2011-05-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chrysalis-floor-lamp References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/005302.html) & [flos](http://www.flos.com/) The Chrysalis floor lamp is a unique lighting fixture for a number of reasons. Not only does it look like an oversized vase, it actually casts a [floral pattern shadow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivoine) on the ceiling as well. A stunning piece of home decor, it offers a perfect balance between subtlety and boldness. Designed by [Flos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2097-chandelier), the Chrysalis floor lamp is made out of an almost transparent resin material that gives it a lanternlike look. Resin was chosen not only for its beauty, but also for its adaptability and high strength. It was sprayed in three layers onto the skeleton and finished with a transparent protective coat to give it an extra bit of shine. The minimalist Chrysalis floor lamp emits a soft glow that lends a rather romantic ambience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Floral Shadow Lighting:** Opportunity to create lighting fixtures that cast nature-inspired patterns to enhance atmosphere of any space - **Transparent Resin Design:** Potential for using resin material in home décor and other creative products due to its beauty, adaptability, and high strength - **Minimalist Lighting:** Market for simple yet elegant lighting fixtures that offer a balance between subtlety and boldness ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor companies to add unique and elegant lighting fixtures that cast nature-inspired patterns to their product line - **Product Design:** Potential for product designers to create new products that make use of transparent resin material due to its adaptability, beauty, and high strength - **Lighting Design:** Market for lighting designers to create modern yet minimalistic lighting fixtures that offer a balance between subtlety and boldness ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Elegant Metal Perforated Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp.md) - [Blooming Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloome.md) - [Interactive Blooming Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloomlight-s-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Lunar Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonsetter-floor-lamp.md)
