Google managed to sell well over 20 million Chromecasts over the past few years, and is looking to build on this success by launching a new and improved, upgraded second generation HDMI streaming solution alongside an audio-only number. The Chromecast Audio is interest because it can be plugged into your existing home speakers via 3.5 millimeter RCA or optical ports. Audio controlled by a phone or tablet can be sent to a Chromecast Audio-connected speaker via WiFi. This system ensures that audio streaming can be made easier than ever without a significant increase in cost or any compromise whatsoever in fidelity and in true Google fashion, takes the technology forward. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Multimedia](https://www.trendhunter.com/multimedia) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Audio Streaming:** The Chromecast Audio allows for easy and high-quality audio streaming to home speakers via WiFi. - **Upgraded Streaming Solution:** Google's new and improved second generation HDMI streaming solution offers enhanced features for streaming content. - **Wireless Connectivity:** The Chromecast Audio utilizes WiFi to connect and stream audio from phones or tablets to speakers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Consumer Electronics:** The audio streaming capabilities of the Chromecast Audio create opportunities for innovation in the consumer electronics industry. - **Streaming Media:** The upgraded streaming solution from Google presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the streaming media industry. - **Audio Equipment:** The wireless connectivity features of the Chromecast Audio open up possibilities for innovative audio equipment products in the industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Audiophile-Grade Music Streamers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wiim-pro-plus.md) - [Connective Digital Audio Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connectivedigital-audio-player.md) - [Refined Home Audio Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a10-mkii.md) - [Retrofuturistic Streaming Audio Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-streaming-audio-player.md) - [Speedy Smart Streaming Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-tv-streamer.md) - [Network-Integrated Audio Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/s14-integrated-network-streamer.md) - [Wirelessly Enabled Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/victrola-stream-carbon.md) - [High-End Audio Streaming Dongles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sennheiser-btd-700.md) - [2-in-1 Wireless Carplay Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ottocast.md)
