The final product features legs which measure only 1.2 centimeters in diameter. Skilled at working with both wood and metal, Cheng reinforced the [beech-wood legs with a steel rod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-side-table). Much like graphite pencils, the [wooden](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidone) is halved and wrapped around the steel. Cheng wanted the table to appear so delicate, people would question whether or not it would be able to support substantial weight; he chose beech wood for its dense and robust qualities.
