# Gory Chopping Boards The Splash Red Chopping Board Brings a Mess into the Kitchen By | Published 2013-07-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chopping-boards References: [lostateminor](http://www.lostateminor.com/2013/07/23/bloody-chopping-board-threatens-to-drip-over-kitchen-tops/) & [mzube](http://www.mzube.co.uk/collections/coming-soon/products/splash-red-chopping-board) Chopping boards are a staple in any functioning kitchen, but they're often made of boring polished wood, or bubbled glass. Why not spruce up the kitchen workspace with a chopping board that is at once [darkly humorous](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grim-reaper) and fully functional? The Splash Red Chopping Board from mzube is the perfect way to add a little macabre flair to your kitchen. Looking just like a [pool of crimson blood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiss-of-death-lip-oils), this chopping board is sure to shock guests; it's perfect for playing simple pranks on unwary house guests. The blood drips hook over the side of the counter, making it seem as if the pool of blood was just about to spill over onto the kitchen floor. This also keeps the cutting board in place, so that it does not move while the cook is chopping up some veggies for the coming meal. With this hilarious -- and morbid -- chopping board, the kitchen can become a fun and quirky room, rather than a necessary location in which to slave over a hot stove. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Dark Humor Kitchen Accessories:** Opportunity for novelty kitchen products with a macabre or humorous twist. - **Surprising Design Elements:** Opportunity to disrupt ordinary kitchenware with unexpected design elements. - **Multi-functional Kitchenware:** Opportunity to create kitchenware with dual functionality and impressive aesthetics. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for brands to explore macabre design elements in home decor beyond traditional gothic styles. - **Kitchenware and Utensils:** Opportunity for kitchenware companies to introduce unique and memorable products that add character to a kitchen. - **Novelty Gifts and Pranks:** Opportunity to create novelty gifts and pranks centered around unexpected design elements for those with a dark sense of humor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multifunctional Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/latticeboard-multipurpose-kitchen-board.md) - [Intelligent Preparation Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/4t7-smart-chopping-board.md) - [Display-Equipped Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blok-smart-cutting-board.md) - [Minimalist Preparation Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mudra-cutting-board.md) - [Intricate Wooden Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-serving-board.md) - [Heavy-Duty Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epicurean-bbq-board.md) - [Portable Knife-Equipped Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baca-board.md) - [High-Performance Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-steelport-steelcore.md) - [Hybrid Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/viking-acacia.md)
