The Chinese Zodiac believes the Ox represents “calm, hard work, resolve and tenacity,” according to the [BBC](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/potluck-club). For this reason, some Chinese futurists say its a good year for Obama to step in as a new president. “Obama was born in 1961, a Year of the Ox,” the Observer writes. “Four 12-year cycles later, 2009 is also a Year of the Ox, which means this could be Obama’s year—and, in turn, all of ours as well.” The images above show how China has begun celebrating the transition in the Chinese Zodiac, a week-long string of festivities that involve praying, parties, good luck symbols and *lots* of fireworks. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Good](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialgood) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Year of the Ox:** The year of the Ox in the Chinese Zodiac presents opportunities for calm, hard work and resolve in various industries. - **Chinese Futurism:** The Chinese futurist perspective on the year of the Ox opens up innovative possibilities for predicting prosperity and success. - **Chinese New Year Festivities:** The week-long celebration of Chinese New Year provides opportunities for businesses to capitalize on the demand for traditional customs and symbols. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Astrology and Horoscopes:** The Year of the Ox trend creates opportunities for astrology and horoscope businesses to offer personalized predictions and guidance for individuals. - **Leadership and Coaching:** The belief in the Year of the Ox as a symbol of hard work and resolve presents opportunities for leadership and coaching industries to promote productivity and personal growth. - **Event Planning and Entertainment:** The Chinese New Year festivities and the significance of the Year of the Ox offer opportunities for event planning services and entertainment industries to create memorable experiences that embody Chinese culture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lunar New Year Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-seville.md) - [Auspicious Lunar Year Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunar-new-year-set.md) - [Chinese New Year Metaverses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mcdonalds-hall-of-zodiacs.md) - [New Year-Themed Chat Backgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chat-background.md) - [Zodiac-Themed Lunar Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carlsberg-1.md) - [Lunar New Year Eyewear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenni-lunar-new-year-2026-collection.md) - [Tiger-Themed AR Cocktails](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limited-edition-cocktail.md) - [Lunar New Year-Inspired Libations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-gift-for-blossoming-futures.md) - [Lunar New Year Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/year-of-the-horse-1.md)
