# Wave-Like Pavilions China's Pavilion for Milan Expo 2015 Has a Flowing Design By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-03-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chinas-pavilion References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/land-of-hope-chinese-pavilion) & [link-arc](http://www.link-arc.com/) Tsinghua University and [Studio Link-Arc](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/srivan) are teaming up to build China's Pavilion, and the design is nothing short of extraordinary. The look is inspired by nature, with the hope that it will encourage the thought process that cities and rural settings can work in harmony together. From a distance China's Pavilion looks like [flowing waves from the ocean](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/from-the-coastline-we-progress), with the roof simulating this general movement. At night the entire design is illuminated, creating a very serene atmosphere for all of those nearby. For materials, [bamboo and timber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-rainforest-pavilion) will mostly be used, sourcing from China's natural resources in the area. Hopefully this design will attract more tourism business to China, as this is a structure one does not want to miss. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Nature-inspired Architecture:** Opportunities for architects to design buildings based on natural elements to create visually stunning structures that inspire visitors. - **Sustainable Building Materials:** Opportunities for businesses to innovate and utilize sustainable building materials that reduce environmental impact for construction projects. - **Illuminated Architecture:** Opportunities to create aesthetically pleasing structures that illuminate at night, drawing attention and visitors to the area. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects in the industry can capitalize on the trend of incorporating nature in designs to create eco-friendly and visually stunning buildings. - **Sustainable Building Materials:** Businesses within the building and construction industry can specialize in sustainable building materials to meet demand for environmentally conscious projects. - **Tourism:** Tourism industries in China can utilize visually striking illuminated structures like China's Pavilion to attract tourists and increase revenue. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Spiralling Ramp Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/czech-pavilion.md) - [Romantic Seaside Pier Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seaside-pavilion.md) - [Tranquil Round Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-round-pavilion.md) - [Lunar-Based Rotating Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-pavilion.md) - [Glowing Sphere Art Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/netherlands-pavilion.md) - [Lake-Overlooking Tiled Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jinji-lake-pavilion.md) - [Black-Timber Stealthy Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dropstop.md) - [Chinese Tradition-Honoring Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chinese-paper-umbrella.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md)
