# Chimney-Like Skylights 'Chimney House' Features a Single, Long Skylight Down Its Center By Joey Haar | Published 2017-03-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chimney-house References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/868168/chimney-house-dekleva-gregoric-architects) & [dekleva-gregoric](http://dekleva-gregoric.com/chimneyhouse/) Sometimes, certain architectural forms become so commonplace that they blend into the general surroundings, but Chimney House takes one of those forms and exaggerates it as much as possible. As one might have guessed, the form in question for Chimney House is the chimney, though the home uses that form in an interesting way. Rather than having the "chimney" funnel smoke or exhaust from a stove or furnace, Chimney House uses the design to create a massive skylight running the length of the home. Chimney House was designed by Dekleva Gregoric Architects, and it sits in the suburban village of Logatec, Slovenia. Many of the surrounding homes have traditional chimneys, and these homes inspired Dekleva Gregoric's design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Exaggerated Architectural Forms:** Designs that exaggerate common architectural forms to create unique features in homes and buildings. - **Natural Lighting:** Increasing use of natural lighting in homes and buildings through innovative designs and materials. - **Functional Design:** Blending form and function to create unique architectural designs that serve more than one purpose. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunities for architects and designers to create unique, functional designs that incorporate natural light and exaggerated forms. - **Construction and Real Estate:** The incorporation of innovative architectural designs and materials in construction projects and homes to increase value and functionality. - **Home and Interior Design:** Opportunities to incorporate unique, functional designs in home and interior design using natural lighting and exaggerated forms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wall-to-Wall Skylight Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/datum-house.md) - [Halo-Like Skylight Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halo-house.md) - [Hillside Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sky-house-1.md) - [London Home Skylit Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oliver-leech-architects.md) - [Chic Curved Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-house1.md) - [Naturally Ventilated Bright Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pott-house.md) - [Natural Light-Centric Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/huron-house.md) - [Skylight-Centric Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portland-house-renovation.md) - [Terraced Light Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-under-the-poplars.md)
