# Baby-Cradling Bird Chairs The Dodo Rocking Bird is a Cute Take on a Children's Rocking Horse By Jen Chae | Published 2013-07-06 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childrens-rocking-horse References: [magismetoo](http://www.magismetoo.com/products.php?id=181) & [magismetoo](http://www.magismetoo.com/) Inspired by the curvy-shaped [dodo bird](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ducky-thermometer), this Dodo Rocking Bird by Finnish designer Oiva Toikka is a playful take on a traditional [children's rocking horse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ready-rocker). The colorful and minimalistic bird is big enough to safely carry toddlers and children. With its ergonomic and sleek design, the Dodo rocks back and forth to keep kids entertained. Made of rotational-moulded polyethylene, this rocking horse does not require complex assembling and will not fall apart. It is durable enough for outdoor use, for a nice day out on the lawn or on the back porch. Traditional rocking horses are detailed and often wood-made and this may not necessarily match the modern family's home decor. Oiva Toikka recreates traditional concepts with a sleek and new appeal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Playful Children's Furniture:** Opportunity to design and create innovative and engaging furniture pieces for children that are both functional and aesthetically appealing. - **Minimalistic Design for Kids:** Opportunity to develop sleek and modern designs for children's products that fit well with contemporary home decor. - **Durable Outdoor Toys:** Opportunity to create durable and weather-resistant toys for outdoor play, providing children with engaging and safe activities outside. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to expand their product lines to include playful and innovative furniture designs for children. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor retailers to offer stylish and modern children's furniture that complements contemporary interior design. - **Toy Manufacturing:** Opportunity to develop durable and weather-resistant toys for outdoor play, appealing to parents who value quality and longevity in children's toys. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Structural Rocking Horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-horse-chair.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-rocking-chair.md) - [Modernized Rocking Chair Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nodding-chair.md) - [Dynamic Movement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wobbl-rocking-chair.md) - [Dual-Function Play Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birddy.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Pouffe Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platero.md) - [Youth-Ready Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ready-rocker-1.md) - [Geometric Rocking Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oval-rocking-chair.md) - [Functional Decorative Rocking Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rool-stool.md)
