# Cup-Shaped Children's Chairs This Cup-Like Children's Chair Can Also be Flipped into a Rocker By Jen Chae | Published 2013-07-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childrens-chair References: [magismetoo](http://www.magismetoo.com/products.php?id=163) & [magismetoo](http://www.magismetoo.com) This children's chair design by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio is multi-purpose. The cup-resembling stools can be flipped horizontally and ridden as a rocking horse. This design, called Trioli, is fluidly shaped with curves and rounded corners so that it can work as a [chair-rocking horse hybrid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ready-rocker-1). The handle, which may seem random on the back of the chair when it is upright, comes into play when the chair is flipped forward. Made of rotational-molded polyethylene, the chairs are safe to use and lightweight. The material is very durable and suitable for outdoor use. The Trioli's waterproof texture would make a convenient and fun seat for a day out on the beach. The chairs come in three different seat heights. The chairs can also be used as [stepping stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totto-step). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multi-purpose Children's Furniture:** Designs that can serve multiple functions or transform into different furniture pieces, offering versatility and convenience for parents and children alike. - **Hybrid Chair Designs:** Combining traditional seating with other elements, such as a rocking horse, to create innovative and engaging furniture options for children. - **Outdoor-friendly Children's Chairs:** Chairs designed with durable, weather-resistant materials that make them suitable for outdoor use, providing comfortable seating options for children in various environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity to create and market multi-functional furniture for children that maximizes space and functionality, meeting the demands of modern families. - **Toy Manufacturing:** Potential to develop and produce hybrid chair designs that offer a playful and interactive experience for children, combining traditional toys with functional furniture pieces. - **Outdoor Recreation:** Chance to cater to the outdoor seating needs of children by designing and producing weather-resistant chairs that are both comfortable and aesthetically appealing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sloped Movement Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tippi-chair.md) - [Dynamic Movement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wobbl-rocking-chair.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Pouffe Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platero.md) - [Modular Upholstered Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster.md) - [Sleek Structural Rocking Horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-horse-chair.md) - [Modular Chromatic Child Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidzilla-chair.md) - [Childhood-Informed Dome Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clodette-chair.md) - [Eco-Friendly Ergonomic Child Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plogic-chair.md) - [Development Childhood Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-and-chair-set.md)
