This photo series by French photographer Vincent Bousserez perfectly captures the childhood fears that once plagued many of us growing up -- and sometimes still do.

The photographer was inspired to create the photography series when staying in a picturesque but old home in the countryside with his friends and family. He captured the photos using children surrounded by shadows that were created by their parents -- and the artist expertly used lighting and photography techniques to blur the [shadows and silhouettes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series) and make them appear as ghosts. In the middle of the eerie scenes are [children experiencing their worst nightmares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scent-of-a-nightmare) come to life.

This photography series poignantly captures the childhood fears that were once experienced by most people.
