The S-Cube by Daisuke Nagatomo, MisoSoupDesign and Minnie Jan is completely hand crafted out of recycled cardboard. The modern-looking product and its sharply angled lines resemble origami, which is essentially how this chair was made. The cubic structure is a light and portable child's seat, as well as steps. Made of 100% recycled cardboard and finished off with colorful leather, the child stool is both playful and sophisticated in appearance. The S-cube was chosen the A'Design Award winner and was awarded by the Green Dot Award and Tent London. It's a great gift idea for someone with a child because it is environmentally friendly. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Upcycled Child Furniture:** The rise of upcycled child furniture presents an opportunity for businesses to create sustainable and eco-friendly products for the younger generation. - **Hand-crafted Cardboard Designs:** Entrepreneurs can explore the potential of hand-crafted cardboard designs to create unique and visually appealing products that appeal to eco-conscious consumers. - **Origami-inspired Furniture:** The origami-inspired furniture trend opens doors for innovative designs that combine functionality, style, and the use of recyclable materials. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can tap into the growing market for sustainable and upcycled child furniture, offering eco-friendly options to customers. - **Eco-friendly Product Design:** Design studios specializing in eco-friendly products can leverage the use of hand-crafted cardboard designs to create environmentally conscious furniture and home goods. - **Interior Design and Decor:** Interior designers can incorporate origami-inspired furniture into their projects, providing clients with unique and visually striking pieces that are also environmentally friendly. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Upcycled Waste Material Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-furniture-design.md) - [Recycled Paper Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-plod-stool.md) - [DIY Flatpack Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/that-stool.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md) - [Collapsible Recycled Bottle Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sustainable-folding-stool.md) - [Olive Pit-Constructed Kids Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nontalo.md) - [Ergonomic Cardboard Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-chair-process-book.md) - [Cardboard Box Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karton-furniture-collection.md) - [Modular Chromatic Child Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidzilla-chair.md)
