Designed and available for purchase from [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock) retailer Lasermad (AKA Anthony Adams), the game consists of the individual chess pieces being outfitted with a glowing Nixie tube. Each one displays a symbol pertaining to the piece that it represents, which makes the set a modern yet somewhat retro set to play the [classic game](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-chess-set). The Nixie Chess Set Game features a high-quality build that makes it look more like a work of art than an actual working board game. The set comes with an equally [beautiful board](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-board-game) for playing and storing the pieces, and features a touch of abstract design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro-futurism Gaming:** There is high potential for innovation in creating modern gaming experiences with a retro look and feel, using technologies such as nixie tubes. - **Electronics Aesthetic:** The use of glowing electronic components in product design can be a new way to differentiate products and enhance their perceived quality in the market. - **Artistic Board Games:** Opportunities for innovation in board game design include creating products that double as works of art and that appeal to both game enthusiasts and art collectors alike. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Gaming:** Companies in the gaming industry can explore the potential of nixie tubes and other retro-futurism elements to create new gaming experiences and attract new audiences. - **Home Decor:** Home decor and interior design companies can incorporate nixie tubes into their products to add an electronic aesthetic to traditional decor and furniture pieces. - **Art:** Artists and designers can take inspiration from the Nixie Chess Set Game to create art pieces that incorporate electronic elements and combine fine art with functional design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nostalgic Nixie Tube Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/btf-nixie-watch.md) - [Single-Digit Nixie Tube Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamp-clocks.md) - [Nixie Tube-Equipped Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nixie-tube-turntable.md) - [NYC-Inspired Structural Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chess-nyc.md) - [Inclusively Designed Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dot-chess.md) - [Ceramic Chess Seating Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-chess.md) - [Republic-Honoring Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chess-set-concept.md) - [AI-Powered Chessboard Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gochess.md) - [Celestial Anti-Conflict Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/another-kingdom-light-stage-chess-set.md)
