It is a [geometrically shaped bookshelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf) that is made in a dynamic form. To construct the functional shelf, the studio uses interlocking sheets of wood and it can notably be assembled without relying on flue, screws, or nails. Additionally, it can also be used as a [room divider](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life) due to its shelf or a space to store other items in the home. Maryam explains that “Two sets of six panels intersect through angle-specific grooves which are cut using a four-axis CNC machine. The name Cheft, meaning ‘to fasten’, derives from the way the panels slide into each other and lock in place to form a freestanding object.” Image Credit: Studio Pousti ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 15% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Geometric Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to innovate by using interlocking sheets of wood to create dynamic geometric shapes. - **Multi-purpose Shelving Units:** Opportunity for interior designers to create versatile and functional shelving units that can also be used as room dividers or for storing other items. - **Flue-free Construction:** Opportunity for architects and builders to explore different construction methods that don't rely on flue, screws, or nails. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Innovative furniture designers can utilize interlocking sheets of wood to create unique and dynamic geometric shapes for bookshelves and other furniture pieces. - **Interior Design:** Versatile and functional multi-purpose shelving units can be used as room dividers or for storing other items, providing opportunities for creative and practical interior design solutions. - **Architecture and Construction:** Flue-free construction methods present an opportunity for architects and builders to explore alternative and eco-friendly materials and techniques. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Dynamic Architecturally Strong Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dogma.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Folding Steel Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md)
