# Food Performance Furniture The Chef’s Table by Design Milk Engages Guests with Culinary Crea By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chefs-table References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/chefs-table-recipe-for-fun/) The Chef’s Table is a piece of furniture that will impress people in two distinct ways. First of all, the Chef’s Table boasts a beautiful design that is at once simple and sculptural. The thick surface of the table has been rested on a pair of [sawhorse legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidone), which was inspired by the idea of a workbench where artisans work with their hands and practice their craft. The additional use of crown molding brings to mind the flowing lines of a tablecloth, adding a nice touch of warmth. To finish, the Chef’s Table is borderless to give it a more infinite feel. Secondly, the Chef’s Table is meant to be used as a sort of performance piece. As Design Milk puts it, it "is an engaging presentation that brings the kitchen out to the party." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sculptural Furniture:** Opportunity for designers to create unique furniture pieces that combine aesthetics with functionality. - **Multi-purpose Furniture:** Potential for creating furniture that serves multiple functions and engages users in unique ways. - **Interactive Experiences:** Unique opportunities to create immersive and engaging experiences through furniture design. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Innovations in furniture design offer opportunities for interior designers to create unique and captivating spaces. - **Hospitality:** Hospitality industry can leverage performative furniture to create memorable experiences for guests. - **Event Planning:** Event planners can incorporate interactive furniture to enhance the overall experience of attendees. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artwork-Inspired Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d12-dining-table.md) - [Sophisticated Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Subtly Smart Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/etto-table.md) - [Collaborative Meal-Making Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/12-person-table.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Stacked Wood Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plane-dining-table.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Wine-Catered Vibrant Artful Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-table.md)
