The first because of its [unique shape and details](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chet-lo), the second because of its futuristic aesthetic. Yes, somehow Charlotte Kingsworth has made a splaying seat look futuristic. Dubbed Slash, the [sofa and accompanying ottoman](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poet-sofa) rethinks the traditional construction of such furniture pieces. Charlotte Kingsworth's clever concept of "an eruption, like a wound," opens up a slew of possibilities. Not to mention the use of a cylindrical shape overall. Full of character, the Slash sofa is a [sculptural piece in the home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noom-hello-sofa) that doubles as much as a piece of decor as it does practical furniture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Contemporary Couch Designs:** An opportunity to innovate and create unique couch designs that challenge traditional construction methods. - **Futuristic Aesthetics:** Opportunities to develop furniture pieces with a futuristic look and appeal. - **Sculptural Furniture:** The chance to create furniture pieces that are not only functional but also serve as decorative and artistic elements in the home. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Innovative furniture designers can explore new ways to create contemporary and futuristic couches. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate sculptural furniture pieces into their projects, creating unique and visually appealing spaces. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can offer customers sculptural furniture pieces that serve as both functional furniture and decorative objects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organically Shaped Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repose-sofa.md) - [Voluptuous Modern Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reimagined-everyday-sofa.md) - [Curvy Segmented Outdoor Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/segmented-outdoor-sofa.md) - [Organic Contour Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siwa-sofa.md) - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Transparent Hard-Sided Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spark-sofa.md) - [Ribbed-Cushioned Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-design.md) - [Voluptuous Texture Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bretz-balaao.md)
