# Modern Charity Housing The Ronald McDonald House in Sankt Augistin Features a Contemporary Design By M | Published 2016-02-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charity-housing References: [freshome](http://freshome.com/ronald-mcdonald-house-modern-home-away-from-home/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [rmhccanada](http://www.rmhccanada.ca/our-ronald-mcdonald-houses/) Traditionally charity housing tends to provide a limited and minimal architectural design due to limited funding and the constant rotation of patrons coming to say. However design firm GRAFT recently put together the structural aesthetic for the [Ronald McDonald House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moments-that-count) in Sankt Augustin, Germany that completely defies this logic with a contemporary and modern look. The home is virtually undetectable as a home away from home for those in need, while still providing an environment of a community for patients and families. The [Ronald McDonald Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mccaf-at-home) function as [temporary housing for patients and families](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karmy-pilot-homes) undergoing hospital care and the redesigned location by GRAFT brings a sense of luxury and modernity to the space with an asymmetrical and curved exterior. The facade is mirrored with a contemporary and dapper furnished interior. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 70% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Luxury Charity Housing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop high-end charity housing that provides a luxurious and modern living space for patients and families in need. - **Asymmetrical Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create unique and visually striking architectural designs that break away from traditional symmetrical structures in charity housing. - **Community-focused Spaces:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design charity housing that fosters a strong sense of community and connectivity among patients and families. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Reimagine the hospitality industry by incorporating charitable housing as a service for individuals in need of temporary accommodation. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Transform the field of interior design by creating stylish and contemporary living spaces in charity housing. - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionize architectural practices by developing unconventional and visually appealing designs for charity housing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Open-Interiors Concrete Care Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hogar-alemn.md) - [Modernist Gingerbread Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-dreamhouse.md) - [Pastel Tonal Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regensburg-quarter.md) - [Village-Like Tranquil Hospice Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sankt-lukas-hospice-and-lukashuset.md) - [Town-Like Children's Hospital](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/herzog-de-meuron.md) - [Refurnished Concrete Shingle Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-house-1.md) - [Patient-Aiding Concept Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karmy-pilot-homes.md) - [Sleek Modular German Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-anton-ii.md) - [Social Network-Encouraging Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignacio-g-galn.md)
