With [smoky charcoal brickwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stanfordville-house) in plenty, this home is truly one of a kind. Although this home may appear narrow, the house has much more distinct features on the inside compared to the exterior. The three-storey dwelling boasts many windows placed inside the facade, giving it a unique rampart feel. High ceilings, skylights and copious amounts of open space allow for a visually pleasing interior. This smoky abode was designed by Reza Aliabadi, who draws similarities to “a coconut - harsh and strong on the outside, but warm and milky white on the inside.” The 2,100 square foot home is a very bold take on modern design and architecture, with just the right amount of experimentation and expertise. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Charcoal Brickwork:** Architectural firms can experiment and innovate with the use of charcoal brickwork, which can be used as a unique design element to produce homes and buildings that are distinctive and visually pleasing. - **Vertically Designed Homes:** Developers and architects can explore creative and visually stimulating ways to design homes that appear narrow on the outside, but with distinct features on the inside, through the use of windows and open spaces vertically. - **Rampart-inspired Architecture:** Incorporating elements of rampart architecture, such as windows placed inside the facade, can create unique and visually appealing homes and buildings that stand out from traditional designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Innovations in the way homes and buildings are designed can lead to new styles and designs that set architectural firms apart from competitors, through experimentation with new materials and design techniques. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers can use the combination of distinctive design elements and functionality to create in-demand homes that attract buyers who seek modern and unique spaces to call their own. - **Construction:** Construction companies can expect an increase in the demand for unconventional and visually appealing building designs, in addition to the requirement for the necessary expertise in creating these unique structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Square Structural Canadian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canvas-house.md) - [Charred Wood Mountain Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alexander-jermyn-architecture.md) - [Blackened Wooden Facade Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/centered-home.md) - [Grey Brick-Cladded Mexican Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mad-house.md) - [Nature-Merging Geometric Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neville-park-residence.md) - [Black-Stained Wooden Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smoke-lake-cabin.md) - [Curved Brick Entertaining Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sobremesa-house.md) - [Black-Concrete Mountain Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-house-1.md) - [Wooden Screened Cantilevered Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elbow-house.md)
