# Modern Chapel Concepts A Graphic Designer Re-Imagines a Chapel for the Modern World By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-07-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-concept References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/07/25/gotta-hymn-em-all/) & [metrocubicodigital](http://metrocubicodigital.com/eng/projects) Even places of prayer that are built in the 21st century tend to look like they are inspired by more traditional designs -- this chapel concept turns that tradition on its head. Created by a graphic designer from [Metro Cúbico Digital](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-world-in-motion), this unusually shaped chapel is much more modern than it is traditional. Jutting off of the side of a cliff with a trapezoid-like shape, this chapel concept is focused on prayer in the modern world. The concept features an office that overlooks the beautiful nature surrounding it, while the chapel itself lets in sunlight from the ceiling that naturally lights up the chapel's stage. Re-imagining a space that tends to veer on the traditional in a modern light shows that religious architecture is capable of becoming contemporary. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Contemporary Religious Architecture:** By re-imagining religious spaces in a modern light, there is an opportunity to create contemporary designs that cater to the needs of the modern world. - **Nature-inspired Design:** Incorporating elements of nature into architectural designs can create a calming and reflective environment for prayer and meditation. - **Light-filled Spaces:** Maximizing the use of natural light in architectural designs allows for a more uplifting and spiritual experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects and designers can explore new concepts and materials to create innovative and modern religious spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate natural elements and lighting techniques to create serene and inviting religious spaces. - **Sustainable Construction:** Exploring sustainable materials and energy-efficient design strategies can result in environmentally friendly chapels that align with modern values. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Tuscan Chapel Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pailunga-tuscan-chapel.md) - [Compact Urban Cafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-chapel.md) - [Hillside Timber Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-of-st-thrse-of-lisieux.md) - [Reflection-Encouraging Cohesive Churches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hjvangen-church.md) - [Sacred Timber Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-church-tolvkanten.md) - [Inverted Boat Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-barca.md) - [Fluted Concrete-Added Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/st-marys-coptic-church.md) - [Metaphorical Physical Community Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighthouse-church.md) - [Angular Church Matte Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-church.md)
